PalmI must confess that when I learned that a fleet of small boats were setting out with the intention of reaching the coast of Gaza, I thought, "Where are they going?" Unprepared boats and departing from too far away. But it soon became clear to me. It didn't matter what was on board. The essential thing was to focus on a barbarity that seems impossible to have been tolerated in the 21st century. But the interesting thing about all this has been observing how, as the Flotilla advanced toward its destination, the escalation of nonsense and insults spewed on social media by thousands of individuals who mocked it increased.

And not all the criticism came from defenders of Israel's unpresentable attitude, but also from some progress Enlightened individuals who, with an air of superiority, treated those who had decided to risk their lives to denounce the impunity of Zionist aggression as undocumented. It's very easy to sit on the couch and, between episodes of a Netflix series, turn to social media to insult the activists. You can be for or against an action like this, but the virulence of what has been said about the Flotilla is a source of reflection on the level of hatred and frustration accumulated by a segment of society.

The Flotilla activists, with five island members of whom many of us are proud, have achieved what they intended, and more. They have generated debate, opinion, tension, and have ridiculed the actions of the international community, which has looked the other way while innocent civilians were executed. Activism is still today, as this invaluable action has demonstrated, the best antidote to the dullness and soporific attitude of those who view life through their cell phones and lecture.
