Palma"We are going out to win." This has been the declaration of intent by the President of Congress, Francina Armengol, this Thursday at the presentation of the PSIB list for the upcoming general elections. The former Balearic president has called for the mobilization of the female vote against the right and the far-right and has shown herself to be "convinced" that the negotiations with MÉS to present joint candidacies for the Senate "will bear fruit": "We are working full time in this direction".
"For three years, people have been suffering the reality of right-wing and far-right governments in the autonomous communities," she asserted. She also attacked the PP for overturning the Spanish government's housing decrees, which will predictably go ahead through the Permanent Deputation. "When a person is evicted, let them think of the right; when someone's lease is not renewed, let them think of Marga Prohens," she continued.
Armengol presented her candidacy accompanied by the number two for Congress, the Menorcan Marc Pons –current deputy spokesperson for the PSIB in Parliament– and the deputy in Congress Milena Herrera. They are followed in order by Eduard Soriano, Sara Alcaraz, Enric Mas, Azahara Peña, and Xavi Colom. Additionally, she presented as the third substitute the former director of the Balearic Women's Institute during the 2019-2023 legislature, Maria Duran.
Regarding the person who will replace the delegate of the Spanish government in the Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez, who is leaving to focus on his candidacy for the mayoralty of Calvià, Armengol limited herself to saying that it will be announced "when the time comes".
