PalmaBen Amics has denounced that the Equality area of the Palma City Council remains "temporarily unavailable" for the second consecutive school year, a situation that the entity attributes to a "lack of political will" of the PP municipal government. This has caused the educational workshops on affective, sexual and gender diversity that the entity had been teaching for more than 18 months to be paralyzed.

For Ben Amics, the suppression of this educational offer responds to a desire to eliminate this educational offer and to the yielding to the "hate speech of the far right".

The entity advocates for affective-sexual education based on human rights and the defense of diversity and equality, especially in light of the data on school bullying and suicidal ideation in the Balearic Islands. It also recalls that, according to the latest LGTBI Diagnosis of Palma, 69.60% of LGTBI people have suffered discrimination in the city.

Ben Amics has demanded that the Councilor for Equality, Lourdes Roca, resume "with the utmost possible speed" the Palma Educa program regarding equality and assume her functions as head of the area.

For his part, the councilor for MÉS per Palma, Miquel Àngel Contreras, has denounced that "once again, the Department of Education is censoring the sexual and gender diversity workshops of Palma Educa". "We are especially concerned that this marginalization of LGTBI+ visibility spaces is becoming a constant with the Popular Party", he commented.
