Controversy in Marratxí over the assignment of two homes to relatives of PP councilors
The government team has denied the accusations and has pointed out that the awarded persons were registered with the Ibavi since 2023
PalmaMÉS per Marratxí denounced this Friday a "lack of transparency" after finding that among the public housing awardees in la Cabana there are relatives of two PP councilors. For its part, the City Council has defended itself against the accusations by denying the facts and pointed out that the properties belong to Ibavi and that the City Council does not intervene in them.
The sovereignist group had denounced that among the people who had won an Ibavi home there was a son and a nephew of two PP councilors and has accused the municipal government of a "lack of transparency." In this regard, the group pointed out that they were able to learn this information after almost eight months of requesting documentation related to the process and after having been denied access to the information they considered necessary.
The party has also focused on the specific criteria applied to this development and the modification of the process priorities. In December 2023, the City Council announced an agreement with Ibavi so that people who could prove more than five years of residence in Marratxí would have preference in the allocation of the 34 homes in la Cabana.
For its part, the government team has "denied the accusations made" by MÉS regarding this issue, while recalling that these homes "are awarded by Ibavi itself," without the City Council having any intervention.
"The procedure is carried out in accordance with the established bases, requirements, and objective criteria," the City Council pointed out. On the other hand, regarding the question relative to the minimum 5-year residency requirement, it stated that "this is a requirement determined by the regional regulations on housing." It added that the goal is to "prioritize access to public housing for residents of the municipality." "The City Council has not intervened in any way in the awarding by Ibavi to the son of a councilor of this City Council and that, based on the information gathered," he was registered in the institution's Registry of Applicants since March 2023, the City Council stated.
