PalmJust one year after taking office as councilor of the Costitx City Council, journalist Bernat Ramis leaves the councilor position. This is what he has made known to ARA Balears and the reason, as he explains, is very clear: "I have been invited to leave and give up the councilor position, as they did not want to hold primaries within the party".

The resignation will be effective next Monday, the 29th, in an extraordinary plenary session that will be held at 10:00 a.m.

The mayor of Costitx, Antoni Salas, explained that "we have considered that Bernat's work was more necessary in Palma as head of communication for Coalició per Mallorca than in Costitx, where he only joined as a councilor a year ago and where we have a team of older and more experienced councilors".

"We cannot have a candidate for the mayoralty of Costitx who is simultaneously the party's head of communication during an electoral campaign. We need Bernat and we want him in Palma, we believed it was an incompatible job", says Salas. The mayor of Costitx acknowledges that "I have nothing to say about the work Bernat has done over this past year".

Likewise, Ramis currently also works as head of communication for Coalició per Mallorca, a position he has also announced he will leave at the end of July this year. This fact, according to Salas, "is his decision; we have let him know that we want him in Palma, which is why we have invited him to focus on the party".

Primaries

Who acknowledges that the conflict arises from the primaries is Joan B. Munar, deputy mayor and possible candidate for mayor if Salas finally does not run. "Ramis wanted to hold primaries and he has not been allowed to by the party. We have tried to talk to him, but he has not wanted to listen." "He has only been a councilor for a year —explains Munar— and he has wanted to override all the other councilors who have been working for Costitx for years".
