MÁS por Mallorca decides to remain within the Sumar parliamentary group in Congress
This is the decision of the party's members, with 67% in favor of staying and 31% in favor of leaving.
PalmThe general assembly of MÉS per Mallorca has decided that the party will remain within the Sumar parliamentary group. Members voted 67% to stay and 31% to leave. This decision, which had been postponed after a tie before the summer, was debated this Friday at the Pere Capellà community center in Algaida.
Vicenç Vidal, a member of the lower house of parliament, described the decision as "tactical," arguing that "the core political force of the sovereignist left in the Balearic Islands is Ahora Más" (More Now) and that it all stems from "a context in which, despite the always strained and complicated relations with Sumar and the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party), we are achieving positive political progress for the working class in Mallorca." In this regard, Lluís Apesteguia, the party's coordinator, defended the decision, stating that it "fully represents the 83,000 votes obtained by the candidacy on June 23, 2023," and that "what unites all the sensibilities within MÉS, beyond any debate, is the defense of the left." Apesteguia praised "the warm atmosphere, the total complicity with MP Vidal, and the unity" that accompanied the discussion and the vote.
