Mallorca Nova convenes its IV Congress on Saturday to reinforce the project in the face of the new electoral cycle

PalmaMallorca Nova will hold its IV congress this Saturday afternoon at La Col·lectiva, in Palma, with the aim of consolidating itself as a reference for Mallorcan and left-wing youth in the face of the new political and electoral cycle. Under the slogan 'Mallorca, forward!', the youth organization linked to MÉS per Mallorca will renew its leadership and define the strategic lines that will mark its action over the next two years.

The congress arrives a year and a half after the third edition, which was held in Lloseta, and has been brought forward with the aim of preparing the organization for the political challenges of the coming months. According to the current general secretary, Ferran Montero, the event will serve to make Mallorca Nova an organization "well-oiled" to face the new electoral year with guarantees. Once the deadline for submitting candidacies has closed, Antoni Fornés, the current organization secretary, is the sole candidate to assume the general secretariat. Fornés, from Calvià, is a political scientist and historian and has more than five years of experience within the organization.

In the presentation of his candidacy, Fornés defended the need to "strengthen the left-wing nationalist alternative that this country needs to transform a reality that now condemns us, as young people, to precarity to live poorly here or to emigrate far from home to have a dignified life". In addition to the election of the new leadership, the congress will include the modification of the statutes with the aim of fostering greater participation from the membership. The meeting will also serve to debate the organization's political strategy for the next electoral cycle and the challenges of the coming years. With this event, Mallorca Nova aims to strengthen its role as a reference space for Mallorcan and progressive youth and to prepare for a new political phase.
