The Government, on the human chain called for by Madò Farta: "It cannot be said that we have not taken measures"

The activist has called for a human chain from Plaça d'Espanya to the Consulate, where they will deliver a list of demands to the Government. The spokesperson for the Executive, Antoni Costa, said he respects the demonstration, but also defended the management of President Marga Prohens. "It cannot be said that this Government has not taken measures: some of those requested have already been done," he said.

Thus, he recalled Government initiatives such as the limitation of new tourist rental places in multi-family homes and the limitation of vehicle entry. "We are clear about this and, of course, we will continue along this line," he emphasized. Costa expressed "respect for freedom of expression as long as the demonstrations are carried out peacefully." In Saturday's human chain, demonstrators will be able to convey their demands to the Executive on paper, through organization volunteers. The first vice-president said they would be read.

On the other hand, Costa has avoided commenting on the report prepared by the Superior Headquarters of the National Police in the Balearic Islands, which accuses seven participants in the July 26 protest against tourist overcrowding of alleged crimes of public disorder and damage. The vice president considered it the responsibility of the Spanish government delegation to assess these events. This police report reaches the courts while the other line of the case remains open: the one related to the agents' actions during the charges. A total of 25 people announced legal actions a few weeks ago through Alerta Solidària, which assumes the legal support for Menys Turisme, Més Vida. The protesters claim to have received baton blows "without justification" and also report that during the police intervention, medical assistance to the injured was hindered. According to the data provided by the entities, 16 out of the 25 people required medical assistance.
