MÉS per Mallorca demands the resignation of Pedro Bestard for using official vehicles for personal matters
The party denounces that the vice-president of the Council would have used official cars for personal uses and Vox events
PalmaMÉS per Mallorca has requested this Sunday the resignation of the vice-president of the Consell de Mallorca, Pedro Bestard (Vox), after the publication of information pointing to an alleged irregular use of the institution's official vehicles for personal travel and party activities.
According to the formation's denunciation in a statement, these would be facts "of extreme gravity" that evidence an "intolerable patrimonialization of public resources". The party refers to information published by the last hour, which indicates that Bestard would be using two Consell vehicles for personal use and to attend training events, even though they would not be properly labeled, as required by regulations.
For MÉS, the issue goes beyond a possible breach of the island institution's internal rules. The formation considers it to be behavior "incompatible with the exemplary conduct and institutional responsibility" required of any public official, especially in a governing position.
In this regard, the spokesperson for MÉS per Mallorca on the Consell, Catalina Inés Perelló, has raised the tone and warned that, if this information is confirmed, "we would be facing a first-order institutional scandal", insisting on the need to assume political responsibility.
