MORE for Palma, facing the risk of cancellation of Pride 2026: "It's pure political inaction"

PalmMÁS por Palma has shown its deep concern about the possibility that Palma will be left without the celebration of Pride 2026, as denounced by Ben Amics this Friday, and has demanded accountability from the mayor of Palma. The party has expressed its support for Ben Amics in light of the possibility that Pride 2026 cannot be celebrated in Palma due to the Palma City Council's lack of response to the requests processed by the entity.

The councilor of MÉS per Palma, Miquel Àngel Contreras, has described the events as “serious” and has directly attributed responsibility to the government team. “You cannot put Pride at risk due to pure political inaction. The City Council has had months to respond and has not done so”, he stated.

Contreras has also criticized what he considers a lack of commitment to LGBTI+ policies: “Institutional silence is a lack of respect towards organizations and the entire community. We are talking about an event that is key in terms of rights, visibility, and social cohesion”.It is not an isolated case

From the formation, they point out that this case is not isolated, but rather part of a broader dynamic of neglect, which is also reflected in the lack of impetus for certain municipal policies on equality.Faced with this scenario, MÉS per Palma has called for an immediate response from the City Council and an urgent technical meeting with Ben Amics to unblock the situation. Likewise, it has demanded that the mayor give public explanations and assume political responsibility.According to Ben Amics's denunciation, the association registered all the necessary documentation in January for the organization of the events planned for June 28, and has reiterated the request on several occasions without receiving any institutional response. This situation, less than three months before the scheduled date, seriously compromises the celebration of a central event for the LGTBI+ community in the city.
