The PP and Vox block the Government from giving explanations about the Pact for sustainability

PalmaParliament rejected this Thursday, with the votes of the PP and Vox, that the Director General of Social Dialogue of the Government, José Antonio Caldés, appear before the Chamber to explain the current status of the Pact for Sustainability.

The appearance had been requested by the PSIB and was debated during the meeting of the Commission on Tourism, Culture, Sports, Labour, Public Function and Social Dialogue. The socialists, MÉS per Mallorca and Més per Menorca voted in favour, but the majority formed by the PP and Vox prevented the initiative from prospering.

The proposal intended for Caldés to report on the current status of the Pact for Sustainability, one of the main projects promoted by the Government in this legislature and which has counted on the participation of different social and economic agents.

Parliament approves commemorating Manuel de Falla

The same committee has approved a non-legislative proposal presented by PP deputy María Salomé Cabrera on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the composer Manuel de Falla and the 80th anniversary of his death.

The initiative received the support of all parliamentary groups, except Més per Menorca, which abstained. In this way, the Chamber has expressed its recognition of the composer's figure and has urged the Government to commemorate both anniversaries this year with cultural, educational, and outreach activities.

The goal is to contribute to spreading the legacy of Manuel de Falla in the Islands and to join the commemorations that are being carried out both at a national and international level. Parliament has also requested that the Government inform and involve the cultural, musical, and artistic institutions of the Balearic Islands in this celebration.
