PalmaThe Balearic Government maintains its tug-of-war with the State over the distribution of migrant minors and already warns that it will return to the courts if the Spanish government approves a new decree to extend the current system. This was announced this Friday by the Executive's spokesperson, Antoni Costa, after the Governing Council, in a press conference marked by the firmness of his speech.

Costa reiterated that the Balearic Islands will continue "on the path of frontal opposition" to any regulation that, as he said, imposes decisions on autonomous communities without their agreement. In this regard, he made clear the rejection of the figures presented: "We do not accept the 406 and, as you can imagine, we will not accept a new imposition of 434 places either."

The spokesperson admitted that some of the appeals presented so far have not been successful and that, in the absence of interim measures, arrivals of minors have had to be accepted. Nevertheless, he assured that this fact will not alter the Government's position. "This will not reduce the will to defend what we believe is a fair position and one demanded by the citizens", he concluded.
