The Mayoress of Llucmajor will not run in the elections: "The legislature is difficult and complex"
In a letter, Xisca Lascolas informs that she will not opt for re-election as a candidate for mayor, a decision she has made "with serenity"
PalmaThe mayor of Llucmajor, Xisca Lascolas, will not run as the PP's candidate in the next municipal elections in 2027. In a letter sent to the media, the councilor announces that she will not seek re-election as a candidate for mayor, a decision, she assures, "considered and made with serenity". Lascolas has admitted that the legislature is “difficult and complex” and acknowledges that she has not always been right and has made mistakes. "Although I have the peace of mind of knowing that I have always made decisions thinking solely of the general interest," she remarks. Waste management, the possible large poultry farm, and the works at the Son Fosquets industrial estate have been some of the main problems Lascolas has had to face during this term.
Lascolas has highlighted that next year she will have been in politics for 16 years, since in 2011 she began as a councilor in the Llucmajor City Council. "16 years in which I have tried to serve our town with all dedication, working body and soul, with respect, responsibility, and a deep pride in representing my neighbors," she adds.
In this regard, she considers it is time to "close this intense chapter" and, therefore, after agreeing on her decision with her family and the party, she will not seek re-election. According to the mayor, municipal politics needs renewal, new ideas, and new energies. "I am convinced that the project I represent will have prepared and committed people to continue working for the future of Llucmajor," she emphasizes in the letter.
Likewise, Lascolas conveys her gratitude to the neighbors who have trusted her, to the City Council workers, to her government team, to her party, and to her family. "Now, the most important thing for me is my commitment to continue working until the last day for the people of Llucmajor, for the town I love and to which I will always be profoundly grateful," she concludes.
