PalmA 45-year-old man was seriously injured Monday morning after being hit by a car while crossing a pedestrian crossing in Palma. The incident, according to SAMU 061 (the emergency medical service), occurred around 7:10 a.m. at the floating roundabout on Camí de la Vileta. A witness alerted emergency services that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian while he was crossing the crosswalk. The victim, who suffered multiple injuries, was treated by paramedics and taken to Son Espases University Hospital in serious condition. The Palma Local Police have taken over the investigation of the accident, which, according to initial hypotheses, appears to have been an accidental act of negligence by the driver, a man in his sixties. Police sources told Europa Press that the driver was heading towards the ring road when he hit the pedestrian. The man remained at the scene and underwent a breathalyzer test, which came back negative. Officers are waiting to take a statement from the injured pedestrian to obtain his account and complete the accident report.
