Access to the Seu viewpoint is closed due to risk of falling
Palma City Council has created a two-meter-wide walkway to ensure the safe passage of visitors while the safety of the staircase built in the 1950s is being reinforced.
PalmThe Palma City Council has ordered the temporary and partial closure of the staircase leading to the viewpoint of the Cathedral of Mallorca, in Dalt Murada, after detecting a slight displacement in the two lateral foundations of the structure. The foundations have small landings on both sides and two cubicles at the bottom, according to the City Council. Municipal workers proceeded to close the sides and part of the staircase, while firefighters are reinforcing the left side to ensure its stability. The intervention only affects this section of the staircase, which corresponds to a construction addition from the 1950s, and the rest of the structure is unaffected. To ensure accessibility, a walkway approximately two meters wide has been opened to allow safe pedestrian traffic while the area remains cordoned off. The City Council is preparing a technical report that will determine the necessary actions to repair this part of the structure and ensure the safety of visitors and residents.
