PalmAn 18-meter sailboat caught fire this Thursday at the Arenal Yacht Club. According to information provided by the Mallorca Fire Department, the fire broke out at approximately 1:50 a.m. and resulted in no injuries. Initially, the Llucmajor fire station was mobilized, along with personnel from the Palma Fire Department, the Playa de Palma station, and the on-duty sergeant. Later, due to the intensity of the fire, the Calvià fire station was also activated, and the Palma crews were reinforced. The on-duty technician was also activated. The fire spread rapidly throughout the vessel, which hampered firefighting efforts. Thanks to the intervention of the firefighters, along with the collaboration of the yacht club staff and several sailors, the other boats moored in the area were protected, preventing further damage. The firefighting efforts lasted for several hours, with the fire under control but still active until approximately 6:00 AM. Crews continued working until 7:00 AM, at which point, with the situation now under control, the gradual withdrawal of firefighters from the various stations began. The fire was completely extinguished, and there were no injuries.
