PalmaThe Anti-Racist Assembly of Mallorca demanded this Saturday respect for the rights of migrants in light of the situation in Ceuta, during a rally this noon at the Plaza de las Columnas in Palma.

The protest was held under the slogan 'Ceuta, rights without borders, communities without racism. Protection and dignity for all people'. The organization denounced the violations of rights, racism, and violence at the borders following the events that began on July 30th in Ceuta.

The assembly also questioned defining the situation as a "migratory crisis", because, as it argues, this approach places the problem on the people who migrate and not on border policies, inequalities, and the structural causes that force these people to leave their places of origin.

The rally especially remembered the people who have lost their lives at the borders. According to the count by Caminando Fronteras that the entity disseminated, 145 people have died since July 30th.
