PalmPublic Health has ordered the temporary suspension of an Asian food establishment in Palma due to the detection of a salmonella outbreak that has affected 43 people, 12 of whom have had to be hospitalized with symptoms of abdominal pain, fever, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

The investigation carried out by the Food Safety and Epidemiology Services of the Ministry of Health has determined, based on the information available to date, that exposure to the pathogen occurred between Monday, August 4th and Friday, August 8th. During the inspections carried out, Food Safety technicians took samples of utensils and food to send to the laboratory, in order to specifically determine the source of the poisoning.

In addition, during the inspection, a series of deficiencies related to the preparation of food at inadequate temperatures were detected, as well as other shortcomings in maintenance and hygiene processes.

After verifying these deficiencies, Public Health has issued a temporary suspension order for the establishment's activity until the causes of this outbreak are clarified and the detected deficiencies are corrected. The establishment has ten days to present allegations, correct the deficiencies, and describe how they will carry out the processes.
