Animal rights activists protest animal exploitation in Palma: "We don't want horse carriages."
The president of Progreso en Verde has lamented the "inaction" of the municipal government team and the "favorable treatment that the PP has given" to some truck drivers.

The demonstration started at 7 p.m. from Plaza de la Puerta de Santa Caterina and proceeded along Paseo de Mallorca, Jaume III, El Born, and Calle Conqueridor to reach Plaza de Cort. According to the organizers, around 200 people participated. The rally passed off without incident and was intended to serve as a demonstration of "the public's rejection of the exploitation of horses."
With slogans such as "Mallorca doesn't want horse carriages," "Enough animal abuse," and "Calesser, you pull the cart," among others, the participants marched through the streets of downtown Palma, from Plaza de la Puerta de Santa Catalina to Cort.
The president of Progreso en Verde, Guillermo Amengual, has lamented the "inaction" of the municipal government team and the "preferential treatment" the PP has given to some horse carriage drivers, who should not have licenses after serious violations of regulations and animal protection laws for horses. "We are not going to be able to control the carriage drivers, knowing everything that is happening," Amengual insisted, speaking of horses in "poor condition" that do not pass veterinary checks, "carriage drivers who bring more passengers than allowed," and "stables of horrors," among other conflicts.
