PalmaThe Association for the Rehabilitation of Old Centers (ARCA) has requested that the Pesquero bar project be rejected and that it be re-evaluated by the Palma City Council's Historic Center Commission. According to ARCA, the proposal approved by the Consistory is "disrespectful" to the heritage complex of the maritime facade and considers that the procedure followed "may have incurred irregularities".

In a statement released this Thursday, the entity expressed its disagreement with both the content of the project and the way the decision was made during the last meeting of the aforementioned commission.

ARCA maintains that the proposal was put to a vote with only a virtual recreation and without providing the necessary technical documentation, such as the basic project, the report, the elevations, the plans, and the surface area calculations.

Regarding the substance of the project, this entity considers that the building maintains practically the same characteristics as the initially rejected proposal and maintains that it harms the image of the historic complex formed by the Llotja, the Cathedral, the Consolat de Mar, and the Sagrera promenade, as it is intended to be converted into a singular and very visible building within this environment.

ARCA calls on the Palma City Council to defend "the city's interests" over those of the Port Authority and recalls that there was an alternative presented by the promoters themselves that was more respectful of the heritage environment, although it was not debated.

For all these reasons, the association demands the rectification of the adopted agreement and the definitive rejection of the Pesquero project.
