"At home we reached nearly 60 decibels": the residents of Santa Catalina denounce three days of noise
Civic Neighborhood criticizes the lack of response from Cort regarding the acoustic limits of the eve and ensures that some homes registered levels close to 60 decibels with the windows closed
PalmaThe Barri Cívic association of Santa Catalina and el Jonquet has denounced the nuisances caused to residents by three consecutive days of amplified music at the Feixina park and has criticized that the Palma City Council has not responded to its requests regarding the authorized acoustic limits.
The neighborhood association explains that on August 31st it submitted a letter to the City Council to request information regarding the maximum noise levels established for the festival on Friday, September 4th, and about the planned control measures. According to Barri Cívic, a week later the questions remained unanswered.
The party, according to the association, lasted for six hours, between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., with the participation of four DJs. During the celebration, some residents of nearby homes recorded "indicative" noise levels close to 60 decibels, despite having double-glazed windows closed.
They are requesting official measurements
Barri Cívic claims that several neighbors contacted the Local Police to expressly request that the Green Patrol carry out an official measurement of the acoustic levels. According to the entity, however, no officer went to the site to take the measurement.
The association also denounces that the residents were not informed about what the authorized acoustic limit for the activity was, nor did they receive an incident number corresponding to the calls made to the Police.
For the entity, the problem is not the celebration itself nor is it related to any specific community, but rather with the repetition of musical activities in a space located near numerous homes for three consecutive days.
Barri Cívic thus defends that its demand focuses on the need to make festive and leisure activities compatible with the rest of the residents of Santa Catalina and el Jonquet, especially when these activities are concentrated for several days in a row in the same space.
