Balearic Islands under yellow alert for wind and coastal phenomena

Yellow warnings for wind and coastal phenomena will remain in effect in Mallorca and Menorca throughout Saturday

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) will activate a yellow alert this Friday for wind gusts reaching 70 kilometers per hour (km/h) and coastal phenomena with waves up to three meters high across the Balearic Islands. The yellow alert for coastal phenomena will be in effect from midnight throughout the day in southern Mallorca, where winds could reach up to 60 km/h and waves up to three meters high. This alert will extend from 6:00 PM to the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range and the north and northeast of the island. As for the wind alert, it will be activated at noon in the Serra de Tramuntana, where gusts of up to 100 km/h could be recorded at the peaks and summits, and from 6:00 PM onwards, it will also be in effect in the north and northeast.

In Menorca, both the coastal phenomena warning and the wind warning will be in effect from 6 p.m. In Ibiza and Formentera, they will be activated at midnight, but will end at noon and 9 a.m., respectively.

This warning will be in effect from midnight until 6 p.m. High waves will affect the south, the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, and the north and northeast of Mallorca, where waves of up to three meters in height are expected throughout the day. In Menorca, both warnings will remain in effect during the same hours and will produce identical weather phenomena.
