PalmThe number of cases treated in the Can Misses Hospital Emergency Department in the first eight months of the year increased by 6%, from 39,990 between January and August 2024 to 42,397 during the same period this year. The average case resolution time decreased by 37.5% during this same period, to 4.8 hours.

According to a statement from the Health Department of Ibiza and Formentera, the Can Misses Emergency Department has added three more doctors, bringing the total to 26 doctors for a staff of 32. In addition to the staff, this department has a group of about ten doctors who are on call periodically to complete the activity.

Fewer referrals from Primary Care

Among the data on the quality of care collected in the August 2025 report, a 6.65% reduction in the number of admissions is also noteworthy. A year ago, 10.64% of those who used the service were admitted, and in August 2025, this figure had dropped to 9.93%. The number of referrals from Primary Care also decreased by 9.91%, reflecting the greater response capacity of Primary Care teams, according to the Ibizan Health Department. Referrals from Primary Care accounted for 14.06% of cases treated in Emergency Departments in August 2024, and this year the percentage decreased to 12.67%.

The Medical Director of Hospital Care, Dr. Sausan Sayed, stated that they are working in an interdisciplinary manner to improve the quality of the Emergency Department service and the data indicates that "behind the efforts of the entire team, we can see results that translate into better resolution times."
