CCOO denounces "serious deficiencies" in Palma's Anti-Squatting Office
The union warns that the premises are not being properly maintained and accuses the City Council of failing to act despite several previous reports.
PalmThe CCOO union has filed a complaint with the Labor Inspectorate regarding deficiencies found at the Palma City Council's Comprehensive Housing and Anti-Employment Office, located in Plaza de Santa Fe, and has warned of the risk these shortcomings pose to workers. In a statement, the union points out that the office reopened last May after being closed for a period of time, and that it did so, they allege, "without being in adequate condition." A few months later, in June, a report from the occupational risk prevention service already identified several "significant deficiencies" in the facilities. According to CCOO, these deficiencies have persisted, and the organization also states that some of the existing deficiencies were not even included in the initial report. Given this situation, the union submitted a new risk assessment at the end of December, which led to a new health and safety report prepared at the beginning of January. This second document, according to the CCOO union, highlights the absence of a maintenance contract guaranteeing the periodic inspection of the facilities and the proper cleaning of the premises, which prevents the implementation of the urgent measures recommended in previous reports. The union presented the situation to the health and safety committee on January 30th and demanded a response from the municipal administration to guarantee the safety of the staff. Given the lack of response, CCOO has decided to take the case to the Labor Inspectorate.
