In light of this tragic loss, the mayor of Manacor has called an emergency meeting with the spokespeople of the municipal groups, the Sant Antoni Board and the Manacor Music Band to agree on how the municipality should institutionally express its condolences within the framework of the Sant Antoni festivities, which begin this Friday.

As a result of this meeting, a difficult but consensual decision has been reached: not to cancel the festivities, but to adapt their protocol as a sign of respect and mourning for the family of the deceased young man. In this regard, it has been decided to suspend the official reception held by the Town Hall at the Sant Antoni Patronage, where the devils and musicians will perform in the Hall. Instead, the group will depart from Cal Baciner and proceed to the Manacor Town Hall, where the musicians will play two pieces while the devils remain still at street level, as a sign of respect. This year, the group will not go up to the Town Hall, and there will be no official reception at the Sant Antoni Patronage for the group, authorities, and the Youth Council. Following this, the devils and Sant Antoni will dance in front of the Town Hall and continue their procession through the streets and squares of the town.

Connection with the Music Band

Furthermore, given the young man's connection to the Manacor Municipal Band, of which he was a member and where he played the tenor saxophone, and with great sadness, the Band has decided that the procession of the float departing from the Town Hall at 7:00 p.m. will proceed in silence, with a drum roll, as a sign of mourning, until the funeral.
