PalmAn 83-year-old man died on Saturday after being hit by a van while riding his bicycle at the Biniamar intersection in Mallorca. According to the Civil Guard, which has taken over the investigation, and the SAMU 061 emergency medical service, the incident occurred on Saturday shortly after 9:30 a.m. at the Biniamar intersection. The SAMU 061 Emergency Medical Coordination Center dispatched an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance and a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance to the scene after receiving a report that a cyclist was unconscious in the road. One of the callers was a doctor and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Upon arrival of the ALS ambulance, advanced CPR was also initiated, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. The man was pronounced dead at 10:20 a.m. The Civil Guard administered alcohol and drug tests to the van driver, both of which came back negative. The main hypothesis investigators are considering as the cause of the fatal accident is that the cyclist hit a stop sign.
