PalmaPollença has already chosen the protagonists of the battle between Moors and Christians that will be held next August 2nd within the framework of the Patron Saint's festivities. Daniel Pérez will play the legendary Joan Mas, after obtaining more than 1,300 votes in this Friday evening's elections.

Pérez thus sees his objective fulfilled after last year he was only six votes short of achieving the main role in the representation, which recreates the heroic defense of the town against the attack of the pirates.

During the day, the members of the Old Town Hall were also elected, in a vote that lasted for nearly five hours and in which some 4,400 votes had to be counted.

Despite the rivalry they will represent in a few weeks on the stage of the re-enactment, this Saturday the protagonists shared the joy of having been chosen to embody some of the most emblematic characters of one of Mallorca's most deeply rooted and multitudinous celebrations. The re-enactment of the Moors and Christians commemorates each year one of the best-known episodes in the history of Pollença, when the residents repelled the attack of the pirates led by Dragut.
