PalmaThe Socialist Municipal Group of Alaró has reported alleged shortcomings in the security measures during the Sant Roc festivities following an assault that occurred in the Plaça de la Vila, in front of the City Hall and a few meters from the Local Police facilities, in which a 16-year-old youth lost three teeth. The socialists have condemned the events and expressed their solidarity with those who were allegedly assaulted. "Violence knows no municipality, age, or justification," they state, while also defending that any violent behavior must be rejected "resoundingly."

Beyond the assault, however, the PSOE considers it necessary for the governing team to provide explanations regarding police planning during the festivities. According to the party, the information that has emerged places the events in the Plaça de la Vila, "in front of the City Hall itself and a few meters from the Local Police facilities."

Only two police officers during the float parade revelry

For this reason, the socialists ask where the police device was at the time of the assault and request information about the security planning during the patron saint festivities. The opposition group particularly focuses on the night of August 15, during the carriage festival. According to the information they have, the police device would have consisted solely of two agents from the Local Police of Alaró, without requesting reinforcements from other municipalities.

The PSOE points out that this formula had been commonly used on festival nights with a high concentration of people and considers it "worrying" that the device has not been reinforced this year. In this regard, the socialists demand explanations from the municipal government about the current situation of the Local Police, the available staff, shifts, absences, and vacancies, as well as about the planning of special devices during the festivities.

The party assures that the request for explanations is also made "out of respect for the professionals of the Local Police" and argues that the City Council must clarify whether the available resources are sufficient to guarantee security during patron saint festivities with a high attendance of people.
