Doctors' strike forces the cancellation of 316 operations and 11,538 appointments in the Balearic Islands

The rescheduling will result in a slight increase in waiting lists for surgical procedures, consultations, and diagnostic tests.

PalmThe doctors' strike against the reform of the Framework Statute proposed by the Ministry of Health has forced the rescheduling of a total of 11,538 appointments and 316 surgeries across the Balearic Islands this week. According to a statement released by the Balearic Government on Saturday, the strikes have led to the rescheduling of 5,396 hospital appointments, 6,142 primary care appointments, 575 radiological tests, and 175 diagnostic procedures throughout the autonomous community.

By island, in Mallorca, 225 surgical procedures, 4,843 hospital appointments, 4,985 primary care appointments, 500 radiological tests, and 101 other diagnostic tests have been affected. In Menorca, the Balearic Islands Health Service (IbSalut) has had to reschedule a total of 33 surgical procedures, 395 hospital appointments, 226 primary care appointments, 17 radiological tests, and 34 diagnostic tests. The situation in Ibiza and Formentera has forced the rescheduling of 58 surgeries, 1,380 hospital appointments, 1,341 primary care appointments, 4 radiological tests, and 11 diagnostic tests. This rescheduling will result in a slight increase in waiting lists for surgical procedures, appointments, and diagnostic tests.
