The Local Police of Palma protests the lack of staff and the non-fulfillment of commitments

PalmaDozens of agents from the Local Police of Palma have gathered this Thursday in front of the City Hall to demand labor improvements and denounce what they consider a breach of commitments by the municipal government team.

The protest, convened independently, comes just a week after the signing of an agreement between Cort and the unions CSIF, CCOO, UGT, SPPME, and ATAP to update and improve the working conditions of the corps. Among the agreed measures were a pay adjustment for different categories and modifications to the structure of command positions.

Despite this agreement, the agents took advantage of the gathering to demand solutions to the problems that, they assure, continue to affect the staff. According to the ATAP union, participants have denounced the lack of personnel, the non-equalization of work shifts, and the failure to apply corrective coefficients.

The police also called for the periodic and annual announcement of transfer competitions, the elimination of salary differences between agents of the same category, and working conditions that they consider fairer for trainee agents.

According to the organizers, the mobilization responds to the "growing unease" of a staff that believes that, after more than three years of the legislature, many of the announced promises continue to go unfulfilled. They also warn that new recruits do not compensate for the high number of retirements recorded in recent years.

Participants have warned that this gathering is just "a first step" and have assured that they will continue to mobilize as long as concrete measures are not adopted to improve their working conditions and the quality of service provided to citizens.

ATAP sources have emphasized that, despite attempts to de-escalate or demobilize the protest, participation has been high.
