Declared a forest fire in Puigpunyent
The fire originated around 6:15 PM and is of potential gravity 1
PalmaA forest fire was declared this Monday around 6:15 PM in the Son Fortesa area, in the Mallorcan municipality of Puigpunyent, where nine aerial means were mobilized to extinguish the fire. According to the Balearic Institute of Nature (Ibanat), the fire was declared of potential severity 1 and, at 7:00 PM, the deployment of resources to combat the flames was reinforced.
In the operation, in addition to the aerial means, three fire trucks and 27 forest firefighters are participating, including four technicians, as well as environmental agents. The counselor Joan Simonet and the general director Anna Torres have traveled to the Central of Forest Fires (CCIF) to learn the latest news and the evolution of this forest fire that keeps the Puigpunyent area on alert.
The Government has asked the entire population to exercise extreme caution, as a large part of the Balearic Islands is at high risk of forest fire this Monday.
The Ministry has also recalled that it is forbidden to make fires in forest areas and has encouraged citizens to consult the regulation on the use of fire and burns, as well as possible suspension, through the website http://alertafoc.caib.es.
