PalmThe Global Movement in Gaza, Mallorca, has come out in defense of Reyes Rigo, one of the Mallorcans who was part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, accused of assaulting an Israeli prison officer. This alleged assault is what has led to her detention being extended, and she is currently the only person detained during the humanitarian mission who has not yet returned.
The activists, in a statement signed by Xisca Puig, lamented that Rigo, whom they define as their friend, has been put "in the media spotlight."
The Israeli Police confirmed through a post on social media the extension of the activist's arrest. She was evacuated from Ktziot prison to a police station in Segev Shalom, in the Negev region, for questioning following the alleged attack. The Israeli Foreign Ministry had reported the incident, which allegedly occurred on Sunday, in a message in which it stated that the prison worker had suffered minor injuries.
"This news has given the impression that Reyes is an aggressive person. However, I can confirm that he is a brave person who has risked his life because our governments are failing to act against the genocide in Gaza," Ramis said. Rigo, he added, had the "courage" to participate in the flotilla and, therefore, "does not deserve this unfair treatment."

Activist Alejandra Martínez explained that the latest information about Rigo is that on Sunday night she was taken from the room in an episode of "extreme violence." "She was dragged by her hair and taken to solitary confinement. We haven't seen her since. She's the only Spanish citizen who hasn't returned, and we ask the Spanish government to facilitate her return home," she stated.
She also emphasized that when they demanded information about Reyes before being taken to the airport, the Israeli agents refused to answer. Faced with this refusal, the activists decided not to leave the cell until they received an explanation. In response, they were forcibly removed, handcuffed, and dragged onto the bus that took them to deportation.
Meanwhile, this Tuesday, the Vice President of the Government and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, called for the return to Spain of Reyes Rigo, from Mallorca. "The Spanish government must continue working so that this woman (Reyes Rigo) returns as soon as possible," the Vice President of the Executive demanded.
Lucía Muñoz and Amanda Martínez will not return to the Balearic Islands until Reyes Rigo is in Spain.
The activists have announced that they will not return to Mallorca until Reyes Rigo is released. They emphasized that they will remain on the Peninsula to raise awareness of the case and exert political pressure for her release.
Both activists demand that the Spanish government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs act immediately to obtain information about Reyes Rigo, guarantee her safety, and secure her return to Spain. They believe that Spain "has a responsibility to protect its citizens."
