PalmIsraeli authorities have extended the detention of Reyes Rigo, one of the Mallorcan activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla, until Wednesday. She is accused of biting a female officer at Ktziot prison during a medical examination. Israeli police confirmed the extension of the activist's arrest on social media. She was taken from Ktziot prison to a police station in Segev Shalom, in the Negev region, for questioning following the alleged attack.

According to the Israeli media outlet mako.co.il, during his interrogation, Rigo stated: "The guards attacked me. I defended myself. They beat me. They dragged me by force. I had no other option."

For his part, a source from the Israel Prison Service (IPS) explained that They asked the suspect and her friend to leave the cell and then "began to provoke them. They threw themselves on the floor. They held hands and gave things to the guards."

Bite

The prison guard who was bitten on the palm of her left hand required medical treatment and received a tetanus shot in her hand.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry reported the incident on Sunday, stating that the prison worker had suffered minor injuries.

On social media, Mesa por Palestina has denounced Rigo's detention in Israel before his deportation and is therefore calling for pressure to be put on his return.

The last Spaniards from the Global Sumud Flotilla who were detained by Israel while heading to the Gaza Strip left Tel Aviv this Monday, according to Israeli diplomatic sources confirmed to Europa Press.

Israeli custody

Finally, it was 27 Spaniards, not the 28 still in Israeli custody, who departed for Spain, as Reyes Rigo, from Mallorca, had her detention extended until Wednesday after being accused on Sunday of biting the official.

In total, 49 Spaniards were traveling aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla. An initial group of 21 landed in Spain on Sunday after being deported from Israel, and Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares had announced that, barring any last-minute setbacks, the remaining 28 would return today.

Sources from the Global Sumud Flotilla have confirmed that the plane carrying the Spaniards—which also includes several other nationalities—is already in Athens. They specified that they are scheduled to land at Barajas Airport in Madrid at midnight on Tuesday.
