PalmNearly 100 journalists from the Balearic Islands have signed a petition open letter driven by the Posidonia Magazine and the Menorca Solidarity Committee with Palestine, following the murder of Anas al-Sharif and his colleagues at Al Jazeera. The manifesto, called The murdered journalists, the genocide in Gaza, recalls that in just a few months, Israel has killed more than 200 journalists covering Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

"In the latest, Anas al-Sharif and his team fell while doing their duty: to explain what is happening," the letter denounces. "They did not die by accident; they died because the State of Israel deliberately murdered them in order to carry out its genocidal project and prevent information from reaching the international community," they lamented.

In this sense, they point out that this is not an "inevitable tragedy," but a crime. "It is part of a genocide against the Palestinian people that, in addition to bombing hospitals and homes, attempts to erase those who can narrate it," they point out.

As journalists, they point out that they do not accept that the right to inform should become a death sentence. "We strongly condemn the international community's continued active support or failure to comply with its obligations to support this genocide," they continue. Therefore, they demand an "immediate" end to the attacks against Palestinians and journalists in Gaza, independent investigations, and work toward reparations and justice for the victims.
