Ibiza will have 200 new public homes
The municipal plot of sa Joveria will be transferred to the Ibavi to build housing within a maximum period of five years
PalmaThe Eivissa City Council announced this Thursday that a new municipal plot will be used for the construction of 200 public housing units, following the approval of the change of use of the land in the municipal plenary session.
The plot in question is number 2 of Unit of Action 18 of sa Joveria, which had initially been assigned to Ib-Salut. With the approved modification, the land can be transferred to the Balearic Housing Institute (Ibavi) to build public housing and subsidized housing for civil servants.
According to the City Council, the change has the approval of the legal services and is based on a technical report that demonstrates the need to increase the public housing stock in Eivissa.
The project has a maximum execution period of five years. Furthermore, the transfer of the land is conditional on maintaining its use for 30 years; otherwise, the plot will automatically revert to the City Council.
This initiative is in addition to local policies to address the lack of affordable housing on an island where rental prices have been particularly high in recent years.
