Airport incident in Palma: an aircraft forces temporary closure of the north runway

PalmA plane veered slightly off its course during a landing maneuver, rendering the north runway of Palma airport inoperable for 45 minutes.

According to information provided by Aena to Europa Press and various social media posts from the Air Traffic Controllers profile, the incident occurred late Friday. The plane did not leave the paved area, and no personal or material damage was reported.

The aircraft was removed and towed to the terminal with the assistance of a pushback tractor, and subsequently, the necessary runway checks were carried out.

For safety reasons, five flights were diverted, three to Ibiza and two to Menorca. The north runway is now operational again and operations are proceeding normally.
