PalmaThe councilwoman for Podem at the Palma City Council, Lucía Muñoz, will run in the party's primaries to head the candidacy for Cort in the 2027 municipal elections. Muñoz announced her decision this Tuesday through a video in which she asserts the need to build a political majority to tackle tourist overcrowding and guarantee access to housing.

"In recent years I have presented many proposals to combat tourist overcrowding and for housing to be a right, but too many times they have been rejected," notes Muñoz. The councilwoman argues that she now wants to take a step further and move from parliamentary initiative to building a majority that allows these measures to be implemented. "I am not content with just presenting proposals. I want to build a majority to turn them into reality," she states.

The city model is one of the pillars of her candidacy. Muñoz is committed to limiting the weight of tourist activity and prioritizing the needs of residents, especially at a time when access to housing is one of Palma's main problems. "I want Palma to stop being a theme park and to be a city for those who inhabit it, where homes are not a luxury, where young people have a future and working families can make ends meet without difficulties," the councilwoman affirms.

The candidate also criticizes the city model which, in her opinion, has prioritized tourism and speculative interests over the needs of the people who live and work in Palma. As she explained, her proposal involves placing housing and the fight against overcrowding at the center of municipal political action. Muñoz closes the announcement with a call to articulate a social and political majority alternative to Cort. "Palma is not theirs. Palma is ours. It is time to prove it," she concludes.
