Maikel, film director and one of the founders of Televisión Felanitxera, dies.

PalmMiguel Juan Garcias,Maikel, died this weekend at the age of 80. A resident of Felanitx, he was a much-loved figure in the town and was one of the founders of the charismatic Equip Tulsa, which shortly afterward became Televisión Felanitxera.

The Felanitx Town Council posted a tweet on social media mourning his death and remembering his legacy. According to the tribute the Felanitx council held for him last year, Maikel was "a multifaceted person, and arguably ahead of his time." He has been involved in the world of cinema for over 50 years, specifically as a director. The first film he shot and directed wasMorbidity, filmed with Super 8 in 1975. During his career, he directed or participated in more than twenty films, with different themes. The best known areSchool memories, Shivers and Good land to die, which was the first western in Catalan and was published in 1983.

He was one of the founders of the charismatic Equip Tulsa, which shortly afterward became Televisión Felanitxera. It's worth remembering that Felanitx was the first, or one of the first, towns to have a local television station. Maikel collaborated with Felanitx television until his very last day. In short, Miquel Juan Garcias was, for many years, along with Bernat Ricart, one of the pillars that kept the station from closing and that allowed it to broadcast weekly for 35 years.

In addition to television, Maikel was also a sports commentator. He participated in various media outlets in the Balearic Islands, such as the weekly Felanitx, Balearic Islands, Mallorca Daily, Breaking Newsand he also worked for many radio stations that on Sundays made connections with the third division fields: Radio Popular, National Radio of Spain, Radio Balear and many other media outlets.
