Man arrested for beating his partner in Palma

PalmNational Police officers in Palma have arrested a man for allegedly brutally assaulting his partner. According to the police, when officers arrived, the woman had so many injuries that she could barely breathe due to the amount of blood in her mouth. The incident occurred early Sunday morning when the 091 emergency line received a call reporting that a man and a woman were arguing on the stairs of a building. Upon arrival, patrol officers saw a large amount of blood on the landing floor of one of the apartments and, next to it, a woman with a bloody face and the alleged assailant. Beside her, on the floor, was a broken glass bottle, which he allegedly used to hit her.

The officers requested medical assistance, as the woman was showing signs of not being able to breathe due to the blood in her mouth. While awaiting the arrival of the medical personnel, they placed her in the recovery position to prevent her from choking. Meanwhile, a patrol interviewed the man, although he refused to answer questions and was uncooperative. He only stated that he was the victim's partner. However, a neighbor in the building explained that they had heard them arguing, as well as the woman crying, and sounds of blows and shouting.

Therefore, the officers arrested the alleged aggressor for assault in the context of gender-based violence. The victim had to be taken by ambulance to a hospital to treat her injuries, including several cuts to her mouth, a possible fractured nasal septum, and a head injury.
