Mango's slip-up with the Balearic Islands: placing the Vedrà on the wrong island
The piece includes an image of the emblematic Ibizan islet, but identifies it as if it were on the neighboring island
PalmaA t-shirt from Mango's new summer collection has generated surprise among users in the Balearic Islands due to a geographical error that has not gone unnoticed. The garment, sky blue in color and with an aesthetic inspired by Mediterranean landscapes, shows an image of Es Vedrà on the back with an incorrect location: "Es Vedrà, Mallorca".
The detail has caught attention because the islet is not located in Mallorca, but off the southwest coast of Ibiza. Specifically, Es Vedrà is visible from Cala d'Hort beach, in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia, and is one of the most emblematic and recognizable images of the Pitiusas.
In fact, the photograph printed on the t-shirt corresponds precisely to this characteristic panorama: Es Vedrà emerging over the sea with Cala d'Hort beach in the foreground. However, the inscription accompanying the image erroneously attributes the islet's location to Mallorca.
Es Vedrà is one of the best-known natural symbols of Ibiza and one of the most photographed places in the Balearic Islands. With a height of nearly 400 meters above sea level and surrounded by numerous legends, it is part of the Natural Reserve of Es Vedrà, Es Vedranell and the western islets.
