PalmThe Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning, Housing, and Strategic Projects, Óscar Fidalgo, announced this Tuesday the changes taking place in the Urban Planning Department following Bartomeu Abad's decision to step down as manager for "personal reasons" as of October 31. The current Director General of Strategic Projects at the City Council, Marta Amer, will assume the position of Urban Planning Manager.

The Deputy Mayor expressed his gratitude for Abad's work and dedication throughout this time, during which he has promoted important projects for the city, such as the implementation of the Housing Shock Plan; the processing of the first strategic residential projects in accordance with regional regulations; and the important work carried out in modernizing and streamlining administrative procedures in the area.

She also congratulated Marta Amer on taking on the position, which "guarantees the continuity of the work carried out to date" and represents a "commitment to internal talent, rigorous and close management, and visible results in housing, licensing, and urban regeneration."

Amer holds a degree in Business Administration and has extensive experience in organizational and human resources management in local government. She has developed her career as General Manager of Strategic Projects, leading planning, internal optimization, and cross-functional coordination processes, Fidalgo explained.

Investment in the Old Town

On another note, the Historic Center Commission approved this Tuesday a renovation project, with an investment of over €810,000, for the common areas of several buildings housing a total of 80 municipally owned homes in the Old Town. According to Fidalgo, the objective of this project is to improve, maintain, and enhance the public housing stock, ensuring the habitability and preservation of these properties.

The interventions, requested by the Municipal Housing and Comprehensive Neighborhood Rehabilitation Board, include structural reinforcement and rehabilitation, the inspection and repair of dampness, the replacement or repair of damaged woodwork, and the painting of staircases and common areas, always respecting the original materials, colors, and typologies.

The project is organized into three batches of work, with a total budget of €812,212. The first lot, endowed with 325,920 euros, includes work on buildings with a total of 31 municipal housing units located within the La Calatrava PERI (Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation of Municipal Housing).

The second lot, with an investment of 428,945 euros, includes improvements to 36 municipal housing units within the La Gerreria PEPRI (Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation of Municipal Housing). The third lot, with a budget of 57,347 euros, includes work on buildings with up to 13 municipal housing units, including municipal apartments located within the areas.
