PalmThe mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, believes that the protests by the Local Police unions "do nothing to create the atmosphere that should exist" and affirmed that the deadlines for implementing the plan "will be what they will be, regardless of the pressure." The mayor of Palma made these remarks on Tuesday at an event to present the 32 trainee Local Police officers, after being asked about the demonstration called by CSIF, SPPME, UGT, and CCOO this Thursday to demand the implementation of the force's reorganization plan, which was scheduled for January 1st.

One of the main obstacles Cort has encountered is the justification for the increase in salary supplements The unions are demanding the following: They are calling for a reduction in the excessive multitasking of the operational shift and a simplified organization with specialized units staffed by stable, trained personnel. This simplification includes harmonizing salary supplements, ensuring that each police officer receives €31,000 in supplements, regardless of their specific duties.

"They will know whether their actions help, or hinder, the effectiveness of the planning scheme and its prompt approval," he stated, adding that he respects how the unions decide to work. He also insisted that the governing team has a "very clear commitment" to implementing the planning scheme and that its approval "is on the horizon." "I'm not going to tell the unions how they should work, just as they aren't going to dictate to me the legal and administrative steps that must be taken to have a planning scheme," Martínez maintained.

According to Martínez, the deadlines will be determined by the speed of the administration, with the assurance that everything will be done on time and correctly so that the plan cannot be delayed or challenged.

Furthermore, he announced that a new public tender for 50 additional Local Police positions will be approved at the next governing board meeting, bringing the total number of new officers to 325 before the end of the legislative term. "We will end the year with 325 more police officers since the beginning of this term," Martínez explained, thus exceeding the "initial commitment of 300 new officers announced at the start of the term."
