MÉS per Palma proclaims David Pujol candidate for mayor for the 2027 municipal elections
PalmaThe Primary Commission of MÉS per Palma has proclaimed this Tuesday the candidacy headed by David Pujol and Xisca Mir to lead the formation's list in the Palma municipal elections of 2027. The primary process concluded on Monday, when the deadline for submitting candidacies ended, and that of Pujol and Mir was the only one registered.
According to the president of the Primary Commission, Miquel Àngel Contreras, MÉS per Palma "has always been characterized by being a brave option and for putting people and the environment at the center". In this regard, he assured that the party will continue working "to build an alternative to the misgovernance of PP and Vox", while they "cut rights". "We will continue to bet on a rooted city with strong public services as guarantors of social justice", he added. Contreras congratulated Pujol and Mir for taking on the challenge.
A candidacy for "a broad, united, and brave left"
David Pujol has explained that the candidacy is born with the will to add sensitivities and build a solid alternative for the future of the city. “The objective is very clear: to build a candidacy of the left, broad, united and brave,” he stated. Along these lines, he defended the need to strengthen the link between institutions and the street: "We want to unite the struggle of the streets with institutional action”.
For her part, Xisca Mir has highlighted the shared trajectory with Pujol and the will to expand the transformative political space in Palma. “We have been collaborating and sharing spaces of militancy and activism for many years. Now we are taking a further step to form the broadest possible left-wing space led by MÉS per Palma,” she pointed out. Mir insisted that the political context demands “foresight” and the capacity for agreement. “To recover Palma, now is the time for generosity, unity, and bravery,” she said.
