MORE for Palma: Neus Truyol and Miquel Àngel Contreras will not be running in the next elections
The party has encouraged its members and the public to participate in this phase of renewal within the party in Palma.
PalmThe spokesperson for MÁS per Palma, Neus Truyol, and councilor Miquel Àngel Contreras will not be running in the next elections scheduled for 2027. The party announced this on Friday after both politicians informed the party members of their decision. They also explained that they will continue in their positions until the end of the current term.
Both explained that they believe it is time to begin a new period of "reflection and internal reorganization with an eye toward the future of the city and the MÉS project." "It is a time to listen, debate, and build collectively. This step opens the opportunity to calmly prepare the best team for Palma's future," the party representatives in Palma explained in the letter they issued.
A history of commitment
Neus Truyol has served as a city councilor for 12 years, and Miquel Àngel Contreras has been district coordinator, director general of Culture, and now, city councilor. For this reason, the party considers them "key" figures in consolidating MÉS per Palma as a "leading left-wing, green, and pro-independence force in the city." "Their institutional work has left its mark in areas such as sustainability, housing, culture, transparency, urban planning, and the defense of public services, among many others," they stated in a press release.
However, they now believe that MÉS per Palma is entering a new phase, aiming to strengthen its transformative proposal and build a collective project that addresses Palma's major challenges: the right to housing, the ecological transition, and social justice. "The path ahead is exciting. With composure, dialogue, and unity, MÉS per Palma will continue working for a fairer, greener, and more sovereign city," they continued. For all these reasons, the party in Palma has encouraged its members and the public to actively participate in the renewal process that began this Friday.
