PalmA group of customers and the owner of the S’Ànnera Xafardera bar have filed cross-complaints over events that occurred on Friday afternoon at the establishment, which include accusations of insults, linguistic discrimination, attempts to leave without paying, and police intervention.

According to the version of the affected customers, the events began with an argument at the time of ordering, when they claim that the establishment's manager allegedly showed a dismissive attitude because they were speaking in Catalan. The complainants state that the owner allegedly responded with offensive remarks and denied them the right to file a complaint form.

The customers also report that, at the time of payment, errors were detected on the bill with drinks already paid for by another group. They claim that, after asking for clarification, the establishment's manager allegedly accused them of not wanting to pay and insulted them. According to this version, he also allegedly threw objects and tickets towards the street-facing window, which led to two calls to the Local Police of Palma, although no intervention took place at the scene at that time.

The complainants assure that they paid for the pending drinks, but that the situation escalated into a tense episode that they consider to be linguistic discrimination and abusive treatment with shouts such as: "We speak Spanish here, we are in Spain, damn Catalans." They have also announced possible legal actions and criticize that the owner later shared images of them on the bar's social media with offensive comments.

For his part, the bar owner offers a completely different version of events. According to his account, a group of about eight people allegedly tried to leave the establishment in stages without paying for several drinks. The establishment claims that it had to intervene when seven drinks were still pending payment.

He adds that, during their stay, the group allegedly behaved in an “uncivilized” manner and made comments and exhibited attitudes they consider humiliating, including jokes and mockery towards the staff. They also claim that an attempt to pay with a card for a small amount was rejected due to insufficient funds, and that the group allegedly reacted with mockery.

The owner denies the accusations of discrimination and maintains that the group demanded the complaint form without having completed payment for the service, which he considers inappropriate.
