The most serious victim has suffered a cranioencephalic trauma and remained unconscious during the entry of the senior cashier
PalmaTwo people were injured, one of them seriously, during the Caragol del Born of the Sant Joan de Ciutadella festivities this Tuesday afternoon, which, once again, brought together thousands of people for one of the central events of the celebration.
The most serious incident, as reported by the Ciutadella City Council, occurred in Carrer Major del Born at the moment of the entry of the caixer senyor and the chapel. The victim suffered a cranioencephalic trauma and remained unconscious in the middle of the crowd.
Emergency services transferred them to the Mateu Orfila Hospital, where they were admitted in serious condition, although they later regained consciousness.
A second person was also injured during the same event, with another cranioencephalic trauma. In this case, the condition is mild and the transfer to the Can Salat Health Center was done as a precaution.
In addition, five more people had to be evacuated from the crowd after suffering fainting spells, while the Red Cross also attended to one person with bruises and another with burns. All these incidents were registered between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM, within the framework of a Caragol del Born that this year had a maximum capacity of 27,600 people.
The day had already begun with other incidents. During the Primer Toc, which took place in the morning in Plaça de la Catedral and brought together around 5,500 people, the Red Cross had to attend to four more people for fainting spells or heatstroke. A testament to the intensity of festivities marked, once again, by high participation and the heat.
