Orange alert in Ibiza and the sea off Mallorca due to strong winds and waves

The Island Council of Ibiza has reinforced the Fire Department service

PalmThe State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued an orange alert for wind and waves in Ibiza and the sea off Mallorca for Wednesday. A yellow alert has also been issued for wind and coastal phenomena in much of Mallorca and Menorca. According to Aemet, waves of up to four meters are expected in Ibiza and Formentera, as well as in southern and eastern Mallorca. Wind gusts of up to 70 km/h are also expected in Ibiza, the Tramuntana mountain range, and southern Mallorca. The Ibiza Island Council has reinforced its fire service following the activation of the orange alert for adverse weather conditions on Wednesday. The institution explained that the service has a special unit of 25 firefighters on standby for the duration of the alert, prepared to respond to any incidents that may arise from the bad weather.

Similarly, the Consell's road network brigade is on alert to be able to act quickly in case of road incidents.

The Council has asked the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel.
