Palma's new promenade opens with a charity race
Projecte Home Balears will receive all proceeds from the first edition of the race.
PalmPalma's new promenade will open on November 15th and 16th with the first charity run by the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB). It will be a weekend of sporting and family fun with free activities, with all proceeds going to Projecte Home Balears.
The festivities will begin on Saturday the 15th with a fair featuring exhibitors from organizations linked to sports, health, and solidarity, set up in the Plaza de Sant Domingo de la Calzada. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., there will be sports activities open to the general public and fun workshops for children. Race numbers and T-shirts will be collected that same day.
On Sunday the 16th, at 10 a.m., the 10 km race for those over 16 will begin, allowing participants to run for the first time along the Ponent-Paraires docks, a space usually closed to the public. At 11 a.m., there will be children's races, and at 12 p.m., the 4-km public walk will take place, open to everyone.
As Javier Sanz, president of the APB, emphasized, all activities will be free, although sports registration will have a nominal fee of 10 euros, entirely donated to Projecte Home Balears. Participants will receive a commemorative medal and a piece of fruit upon completion.
The organizers have emphasized sustainability, installing a drinking water station to reduce the use of single-use plastics. Registration is now open through the EliteChip website. and the numbers will have to be collected on Saturday the 15th, in the Plaza de Sant Domingo de la Calzada.
