The Government creates IB Digital, a macro-organization with 400 professionals to drive the technological revolution

PalmThe Government presented this Monday the Balearic Agency for Digitalization, Cybersecurity and Telecommunications, IB Digital, the autonomous body that will lead the digital transformation of the regional administration and place the Balearic Islands at "the technological forefront". The president of the regional executive, Marga Prohens, presided over the presentation event, at which she stressed that the creation of IB Digital represents "a decisive step towards building a 21st-century administration, more agile, more efficient, and citizen-centered". "It is the biggest technological revolution in the regional administration in the last 25 years", she remarked.

IB Digital is born with the aim of putting technology at the service of citizens, simplifying administrative processes, and improving the quality of public services. For this reason, the Government has concentrated for the first time in a single structure more than 400 public employees in the technological field from different areas of the Administration, which will allow for reinforced coordination, optimized resources, and progress with a common strategy.

This integration implies, as the President of the Government has highlighted, "a change of model" in public management, in which technology becomes a strategic element for decision-making and service improvement. The new Agency will allow overcoming the fragmentation that has existed until now and moving towards a more coherent, modern administration prepared to face present challenges. "Technology is no longer a support or an auxiliary tool, it is a central element for governing better," the President has emphasized.

Among the main lines of action, as explained by the Director General of Digital Strategy and Technological Development, Francisco Cánovas, IB Digital will promote the digitalization and automation of procedures, with the aim of reducing bureaucracy, streamlining processes, and offering a simpler and more accessible experience to citizens. Likewise, it will provide public employees with more advanced technological tools, which will allow for improved efficiency and focus on tasks with more added value.

The Agency will also play a fundamental role in cybersecurity, strengthening the protection of systems and ensuring a safe and reliable digital environment, in an increasingly demanding context.

IB Digital is divided into three strategic areas. Firstly, the Area of Citizen Experience and Internal User Support, which is responsible for, among other things, administrative simplification and the digital society. Secondly, the Area of Sectoral Software and Data Governance, which integrates innovation or artificial intelligence. And, finally, the Area of Transversal Technology and Cybersecurity, which manages electronic administration or telecommunications.
