PalmThe President of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, announced this Friday the awarding of the contract for the Digital Twin of the Balearic Islands, a project that will create a virtual replica of the archipelago for real-time monitoring. The announcement was made during the closing of the PP's Artificial Intelligence Forum, held at Parc Bit, where Prohens asserted that the Balearic Islands "will not stand idly by" in the face of the technological revolution and will instead "lead it." The event brought together experts, technology companies, and the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), with presentations focused on the power, governance, and responsibilities of AI.

Prohens also presented a series of measures to make the Balearic Islands a digital leader, including increasing investment in administrative robots (which will process files and documents) to five million euros, expanding the sensor network to consolidate the Smart Balearic Territory with four million euros, and creating the Supercomputing and AI Center in collaboration with two million euros.

62 million euro investment in Parc Bit

The Government will also promote the Parc Bit Business and Talent Attraction and Retention Plan, with an investment of 62 million euros. The plan includes rental housing for researchers and workers, the redevelopment of land for new businesses, and infrastructure modernization. The renovation of the Menorca Bit Center (5.8 million euros) and the creation of the new Ibiza Bit Center have also been highlighted. Furthermore, support for startups and innovative companies will be strengthened with new guarantees, participating loans, and 45% tax deductions for R&D&I projects. Prohens argued that this will be "the legislature of innovation and artificial intelligence" and emphasized that digital transformation "should not be something distant, but rather useful and at the service of the people." "We will look to the future with courage and ambition to transform our islands," she concluded.
